How Old Was Tim Curry When He Played Pennywise

So, there I was, scrolling through Netflix the other night, and I stumbled upon It, the 1990 miniseries that's been giving people nightmares for decades. You know the one, right? Pennywise, the creepy clown, and his love for balloons and sewers. I was feeling brave, or maybe just too lazy to scroll further, so I hit play.

Now, I've seen my fair share of horror movies, but this one had me checking under my bed before I went to sleep. And that's when it hit me - how old was Tim Curry when he played the terrifying Pennywise? I mean, the guy was born to play a creepy clown, right?

So, I did what any curious cat would do - I hit the old Google, and here's what I found.

Tim Curry: The Original Pennywise

Tim Curry was born on April 19, 1946, in Grappenhall, Cheshire, England. That makes him a Taurus, in case you're into astrology. Now, It was first aired in 1990, which means Curry was a ripe old age of... wait for it... 44.

I know, right? I was expecting something younger. But then again, Curry had already been acting for decades by then. He'd played Worzel Gummidge in the '70s, and who could forget his iconic role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the '70s?

And let's not forget Curry's acting chops. The guy could make a trip to the grocery store look terrifying. I mean, have you seen his eyes? They're like windows to his soul... and maybe a little bit of hell.

Curry's performance as Pennywise is still talked about today, over 30 years later. He brought a unique blend of creepy, funny, and downright disturbing to the role. And let's not forget his iconic line: "You'll float too..."

So there you have it, folks. Tim Curry was 44 when he played Pennywise. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some closets to check. You know, just in case.
