So, I was binge-watching Shameless the other day, you know, just another day in quarantine, and I found myself wondering, "How old is Mickey, anyway?" I mean, I've seen him grow from a kid to a... well, let's just say he's seen some stuff. But how old was he in season one? I had to know.
Mickey Milkovich: A Brief History
For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Mickey, let me give you a quick rundown. He's a Milkovich, which in the world of Shameless means he's trouble. He's a bit of a hothead, a bit of a criminal, and a whole lot of complicated. He's played by Noel Fisher, who, by the way, is a year younger than his on-screen sister, Debbie. Isn't that something?
Now, back to our question. Mickey's age has been a bit of a mystery. The show doesn't exactly hand out birth certificates, you know? But thanks to the magic of the internet and a bit of digging, I found out that Mickey was around 16 or 17 years old in season one. That's right, folks. Baby-faced Mickey was just a teenager when he first graced our screens.

So, What's the Big Deal?
Well, I'll tell you. Knowing Mickey's age in season one gives us a whole new perspective on his character arc. It's like watching a kid grow up, but with a lot more swear words and illegal activities. It's also a reminder that, even though Mickey can be a bit of a jerk, he's still just a kid trying to navigate the messed-up world of the South Side.
Plus, it's always fun to play "Guess the Age" with the characters, isn't it? I mean, who didn't think Fiona was at least 30 when we first met her? (Spoiler alert: she was 21. I know, right?)

Mickey's Journey: From Teen to... Well, Still a Bit of a Teen
Watching Mickey grow up has been one hell of a ride. He's gone from being a kid trying to prove himself to his brothers to being a kid trying to prove himself to the world. He's made some questionable choices (okay, a lot of questionable choices), but he's also shown us that there's more to him than meets the eye.
And let's not forget about his relationship with Ian. That's a whole other can of worms, isn't it? But that's a story for another time.

So, How Old is Mickey Now?
Well, that's a bit trickier to answer. The show's timeline is a bit... flexible, shall we say? But as of the end of season 11, Mickey is probably in his mid-to-late 20s. He's still got that youthful energy, but he's also got a bit more wisdom under his belt. Or at least, I hope he does.
And there you have it, folks. Mickey Milkovich was around 16 or 17 years old in season one of Shameless. Isn't that something? It's crazy to think that this kid has been through so much, and he's still got a long way to go. But hey, that's the beauty of Shameless, isn't it? It's a wild ride, and we're all just along for the chaos.
