How Old Was Eddie Munson In Stranger Things

So, I was binge-watching Stranger Things the other day, and I found myself doing something I haven't done since high school - calculating the characters' ages. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Dude, it's just a show, who cares?" But bear with me, this is actually quite interesting, and it might just make you appreciate the Duffer Brothers' attention to detail even more.

Now, where were we? Ah, yes, the ages. So, I was trying to figure out how old Eddie Munson is. You know, the metalhead with the heart of gold, played by the incredibly talented Joseph Quinn. I mean, the guy rocks a mean guitar solo and looks like he's been around the block a few times, but how old is he really?

First things first, let's establish when the show takes place. Season 4 is set in 1986, which is when the series begins. Now, Eddie Munson is a senior at Hawkins High, which means he's 18 years old. But here's where it gets a bit tricky. Joseph Quinn, the actor who plays Eddie, was born in 1993, making him 29 years old in 2022. So, Eddie is supposed to be 11 years younger than Joseph in real life. Mind. Blown.

But wait, there's more! You might be thinking, "Okay, so Eddie is 18 in the show, but how old is he supposed to be in the context of the series' timeline?" Well, let's do some math. The first season of Stranger Things takes place in 1983, and the kids are all 12 years old. If we assume that Eddie is around the same age as the main characters when the series begins, that would make him 12 in 1983. By the time we get to season 4, that would put him at 18, which aligns with the timeline of the show.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "But what about the other characters? How old are they?" Well, that's a whole other can of worms. But let's just say that the Duffer Brothers have been pretty consistent with their age calculations, and it's actually quite impressive how they've managed to keep track of everyone's birthdays over the course of the series.

So, there you have it, folks. Eddie Munson is 18 years old in Stranger Things. And if you're still not convinced that the Duffer Brothers are geniuses, let me remind you that they've managed to create a show that's not only entertaining but also makes you think about things like character ages. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some more math to do. (I'm looking at you, Vecna.)
